Soundation X Modern Musician contest
The contest has ended!
We got a lot of good submissions for the contest and we’ve finally narrowed it down to a top 3! The judgement call was made based on the quality of the production in terms of being a complete, release-ready song in terms of arrangement, mix, and creativity.
It was a tough pick, and unfortunately some of the top choices were disqualified due to inability to verify the project being made using Soundation.
Winners
🏆 1st place
Joplinese brought some undeniable bounce with this infectious melody and catchy vocal chop. The elements are few but well-picked and played to their advantage with some simple but effective effects and the mix bangs. Throw some vocals on this and you have a hit.
Feedback: The mix is running a bit hot so keep those levels in check, and the arrangement kinda fizzles out and could use a climax. But that’s being picky.

🏆 2nd place
This classic house track really does have the summer sauce, and its clean mix stands out from the rest. Checks all the boxes we’re looking for, a full and well-rounded song.
Feedback: Although it is a complete song, it tends to get a little repetitive and makes it best suited for a background tune rather than a track that stands on its own. A switchup or two could solve it.

🏆 3rd place
The house squad is really bringing it in this contest, and Gax flexes with a very solid track. If this was a contest in arrangement only, this would be a clear winner among the top 3. Unfortunately, the mix is what makes it fall slightly short.
Feedback: Use that noclip cheat and keep your eyes on the master level, fixing the levels alone could bump the overall sound of this song up ten notches.
